Mental Health Programs for Children and Adolescents

Dealing with a child's mental health issues is hard for everyone in the family. You want to make the problem better but often don’t know where to turn for help. You’re not alone.

UPMC Western Behavioral Health has programs for very young children all the way to young adults. We help children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and those who act in ways that worry their parents or teachers.

Western Behavioral Health treats mental health concerns in children that include:

  • Depression.
  • Anxiety.
  • Bipolar disorder.
  • Eating disorders.
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder.
  • Attention deficit disorders.
  • Hyperactivity disorders.
  • Substance use.
  • Risk of suicide.
  • Truama.
  • Autism and intellectual disorders.
  • Gender identity.

Our first step is to thoroughly assess your child. You’ll then work with one of our expert providers to discuss the best treatment. We’ll help your child build self-esteem and social skills they can use throughout their lives.

We offer mental and behavioral programs for children and adolescents in hospitals, outpatient settings, in homes, and in schools.
