A partnership between UPMC Senior Communities and the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, our Transitional Rehab Units (TRUs) provide short-stay rehabilitation designed to meet the needs of patients being discharged from the hospital who are not quite ready to return home.
Board-certified physicians and specialty-trained therapists help patients recover from surgery, accidents, and illness and return home more quickly.
As part of the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, the TRUs:
- Promote a safe and timely transition for short- term rehabilitation patients as they progress towards their discharge home.
- Provide individual patient-focused rehabilitation services.
- Promote quality care and provide continuity of
treatment plans.
- Promote appropriate utilization of patients’ health
care benefits.
