Chelsi Figley has a master’s degree in social administration (equal to a master’s in social work) and a certification in chemical dependency.
Chelsi has competed internationally in powerlifting, and she says, “Powerlifting gave me a place to finally be active and part of a sports team. I did not have that chance growing up in a small town in Ohio. It helped my self-image to perform at an elite level with other elite athletes.”
The international travel of powerlifting competitions helped Chelsi to have wonderful experiences that taught her to consider perspectives and ways of life other than her own, which she says helps a great deal in her profession as a mental health counselor.
