UPMC is a committed community partner and economic driver that the city of Pittsburgh can count on. We deeply invest in supporting the city and its neighborhoods, including Uptown and the Hill District.
In 2017, we announced the UPMC Mercy Pavilion as part of three building projects designed to change the region's health care landscape.
Transforming Vision Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine Under One Roof
The UPMC Mercy Pavilion leverages our global leadership in health care and research to transform vision medicine and rehabilitation medicine.
This innovative model, bringing the UPMC Vision Institute and the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute under one roof, is among the first of its kind in the United States.
The Mercy Pavilion brings together an expert team of:
- Physicians.
- Scientists.
- Engineers.
- Allied health workers.
We aim to:
- Research and design new and better therapies.
- Transform the treatment experience.
- Improve the quality of life for people with visual, mobility, and cognitive impairments.
The pavilion will help:
- Attract top-tier doctors and health care workers around the nation and world.
- Draw students and colleagues focused on studying medicine and health care to the University of Pittsburgh and area colleges.
- Create pathways to careers for local health care workers, service workers, and others from throughout the region’s diverse neighborhoods.
