UPMC Presbyterian Attains National Verification

UPMC Presbyterian has recently attained national verification from the American College of Surgeons Emergency General Surgery Verification Program (ACS EGS-VP). This verification demonstrates UPMC’s commitment to providing a robust quality and safety infrastructure for emergency general surgery care. At UPMC Presbyterian, we have the clinical and surgical expertise to handle complex cases that other centers are unable to manage.

The American College of Surgeons initiated the EGS program at pilot sites to trial the new quality program. Following the completion of the pilot program, UPMC Presbyterian was the first hospital in the country and the only hospital in the region to be recognized as EGS-VP Verified Hospital.
