UPMC in central Pa.'s Internal Medicine Residency Program is designed to give you the most comprehensive internal medicine training.

The following list details the clinical rotation during your residency:

PGY-1

  • 3-4 months Teaching Service/General Medicine Inpatient
  • 2 months Critical Care
  • 1.5 months Night Float*
  • 3 months Ambulatory Care
  • 0.25 month Geriatrics/Hospice
  • 2 months Electives
  • 3 QI Days
  • 21 Vacation Days

PGY-2

  • 3 months Teaching Service/General Medicine Inpatient
  • 1.5 months Critical Care
  • 1 month Nigh Float*
  • 0.5 month Inpatient Cardiology
  • 3 months Ambulatory Care
  • 0.5 month Geriatrics
  • 1 month Outpatient Ambulatory Sub-specialty
  • 1 month Electives
  • 3 QI Days
  • 21 Vacation Days

PGY-3

  • 1.5-2 months Teaching Service/General Medicine Inpatient
  • 1 month Critical Care
  • 0.5-1 month Night Float*
  • 3 months Ambulatory Care
  • 0.5 month Emergency Medicine
  • 0.5 month Psychiatry
  • 0.5 month Neurology
  • 3-3.5 months Electives
  • 3 QI Days
  • 21 Vacation Days

*Total Night Float is 4 months over 3 years
