Andrea moved into her home in western Pennsylvania in 1994. Because it was the first home she ever owned, it meant a lot to her.
Over the years, she’s needed many different renovations and repairs. The most serious came after a house fire about a decade ago. But she’s gotten the help she’s needed from Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh.
Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh provides homeowners in need with home rehabilitations and repairs at no cost.
UPMC is proud to support and partner with Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh in its mission.
Andrea learned of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh from her late son-in-law, who was in the floor layers’ union.
“They have been really good to me since I have applied to them,” Andrea says. “They’ve gotten me help many times.”
After her house fire, the workers from Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh renovated a damaged sunroom at the front of the house. They also removed damaged asbestos shingles and installed new siding all around the house.
“I was just in tears because I was so happy,” Andrea says.
The repairs made a dramatic improvement.
Andrea says the workers from Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh have treated her well and respected her home. She is grateful for all of the work they’ve done for her over the years.
“Sometimes you think, ‘What did I do to deserve this?’” she says. “You know, good or bad. And things have looked up the last couple years for me. I’m just really grateful and appreciative.”
