Danielle Davis is a lifelong resident and contributor to Pittsburgh. During that time, she saw the city change through different economies and witnessed the impact the economy could have on the community. She wanted to play a leading role in community economic development and created Davis Consulting Solutions (DCS) in 2011.
DCS – an award-winning, management consulting minority- and woman-owned Community Economic Development enterprise – strives to deliver resources and solutions to address challenges in business, organizations, employment, and workforce diversity.
UPMC is proud to partner with DCS through our Supplier Diversity and Inclusion Program. The program, which began over 30 years ago, strives to provide maximum opportunity for businesses or vendors owned and operated by minorities, women, LGBTQIA+, veterans, and other disadvantaged communities to become partners or suppliers of goods and services to UPMC.
“When UPMC called, I said, ‘We are the right ones for this opportunity,’” Davis says. “After meeting with UPMC, the world just opened up to me. Knowing this opportunity was being presented to me, and knowing I had the right team, gave me the courage I needed.”
Davis pulls together qualified job candidates and helps remove obstacles for employment.
“You have to be able to help them keep the job and tear down or reduce barriers in front of them,” she says. “And you are empowering them so that they can use those tools for whatever other circumstances may face them.”
Through DCS’ partnership with UPMC, Davis has helped many people gain employment. But the impact goes beyond sheer numbers. She has many stories of people whose lives changed through employment at UPMC.
“Sometimes we see numbers, but not the impact on lives of individuals,” she says.
At UPMC, Life Changing Medicine means giving people an opportunity to succeed.
