Conditions We Treat
Often complicated by underlying conditions such as diabetes, circulation problems, or previous radiation treatment, the simplest of wounds can turn into a significant problem because the body's normal healing process is affected. Other types of chronic wounds result from pressure, trauma, or infection. We offer advanced treatment options for all types of nonhealing wounds, including:
What to Expect
During your initial visit, our medical team will perform a physical examination, giving particular attention to your wound, and will gather comprehensive medical history. Please bring a list of your current medications and the dosages currently prescribed. Additional studies may be ordered, such as:
- Blood tests
- Tissue cultures
- Vascular studies to evaluate venous and/or arterial circulation
- X-rays and other imaging procedures
Our wound care experts have years of experience and collaborate with other specialists as needed to help heal your wound in a timely manner. With state-of-the-art education, technology, and treatments including bioengineered skin substitutes, wound debridement (removal of tissue), vacuum-assisted closure, advanced dressing selection, and off-loading devices, people with nonhealing and chronic wounds in the southern suburbs of Pittsburgh now have a place to turn.
We also partner with nearby UPMC McKeesport to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which can be beneficial for select nonhealing wounds.
Limb Salvage Program
For patients with limb-threatening conditions such as cancer, diabetic foot infections, peripheral arterial disease and deformities, we offer advanced limb preservation techniques. Our goal is to prevent the need for amputation in as many patients as possible, improving long-term quality of life.
Led by podiatrist, Jessica Sciulli, DPM, and vascular surgeon, Lindsey Haga, MD, our multidisciplinary team of specialists are able to offer comprehensive care in one location, allowing us to treat a wide range of wounds, even the most complex cases.
