Lee Tempest

Marshall “Lee” Tempest is a spinal cord injury research study coordinator working at the University of Pittsburgh at UPMC Mercy Hospital. He graduated from Kent State University with bachelor’s degree in psychology after sustaining a T12 spinal cord injury at age 18.

Lee has been a wheelchair basketball athlete for 25 years, serving on the board of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association, and he has competed with the Pittsburgh Penguins sled hockey team. He enjoys competitive and recreational handcycling, completing many handcycle marathons.

He is President of the Pittsburgh Steelwheelers adaptive sports organization and co-leader of the spinal cord injury peer support group at UPMC Rehabilitation Institute.
