What Is Hospice Care?
Hospice care is about the living. It's a special way of caring for people with end-stage disease and their loved ones.
The focus of hospice care is to:
- Provide comfort.
- Relieve the symptoms and stress of serious illnesses.
- Improve quality of life.
Hospice care is holistic. It looks at all aspects of the person, not just the illness.
Hospice meets more than just a person's physical needs. It meets the emotional, mental, spiritual, and social needs of both patients and families.
A Team Approach to Hospice
Formerly UPMC Jameson Hospice, Family Hospice - Northwest takes a team approach to care.
We focus on the family needs by including you in the care of your loved one. We also provide education and emotional support.
Family Hospice works with your loved one's doctor and the hospice care team to provide top quality palliative care.
As part of UPMC, Family Hospice is one of the only not-for-profit hospices in our region.
