Students who successfully complete their first semester at one of UPMC’s Schools of Nursing (UPMC SON) and continue to meet academic requirements are eligible to receive up to $7,000/semester in tuition forgiveness for all remaining semesters.

All UPMC Schools of Nursing have national accreditation by the ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing).
We know that some students have received credits from other colleges.
We will accept courses with the equivalent content, and the same number of credits, where the student has earned a grade a "C" or better.
We will decide your earned credit once submit a transcript to the Admissions office.

Upon graduation from Shadyside School of Nursing, you will earn a diploma in nursing. This means you can take the national NCLEX-RN licensing exam and begin working as an RN.
We also partner with Chatham University to make it simple for you to earn your BSN after you graduate.

We don't offer an LPN program at Shadyside.
We have an NCLEX review course built into our nursing program at Shadyside — NUR 399.
We offer this review course the last semester of the program, just before students take the exam.
Our program has over 800 hands-on nursing clinical hours at sites across the UPMC hospital network, including:
For our full-time program, the schedule is 5 days per week with 6 to 8 hours of class or clinical training per day.
The part-time evening/weekend schedule involves 2 to 3 nights per week or 2 weeknights plus Saturday. Classes begin after 5 p.m.
We schedule clinical nursing classes 2 nights per week and a minimum of every other weekend. Saturday and Sunday clinical hours are during the day.
