Home Care and Home Medical Equipment
After returning home from their hospital stay, some patients receive follow-up care in their home from UPMC’s home care services.
Home medical equipment is sometimes essential to a patient's recovery or independence. Some patients need wheelchairs, special bathroom supplies, hospital-type beds, or other medical equipment once they return home.

Rehab and Long-Term Care
Many patients continue their recovery with the services of physical, occupational, and speech therapists and other rehabilitation professionals.
Not all patients go back home immediately after a hospital stay.
