As part of our comprehensive lung and sleep services offered at Hillside Medical Center, pulmonary diagnostic testing is performed in a shared space with our pulmonary and sleep physician practice.

- Pulmonary Function Laboratories
- Arterial blood gas analysis
- Pulmonary stress testing
- Spirometry (pre and post bronchodilator)
- Lung volumes
- Diffusing capacity
- Methacholine challenge
- Desaturation studies including sleep oximetry and exercise oximetry
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
UPMC Hanover’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Our multidisciplinary program works to improve the quality of life for people with lung disease (COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, lung cancer, etc). Respiratory therapists work with individuals two to three times a week for 24 to 36 sessions. During this time, individuals and their family members have the opportunity to meet with a:
- Social Services staff member
- Dietitian
- Tobacco cessation counselor (if needed)
- Physical and/or occupational therapist (if needed)

UPMC Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine
Our physicians and staff are dedicated professionals with experience in providing excellent care in all aspects of pulmonary, sleep and critical care medicine. Inpatient pulmonary consultations and critical care management are provided at UPMC Hanover. We offer office consultations and ongoing care in multiple locations to meet the needs of our patients. Our sleep specialists evaluate and treat sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy and insomnia, as well as other sleep-related problems.
