Rehabilitation and Long Term Care

The UPMC Rehabilitation Institute offers:

Sugar Creek Station Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Complex

Located approximately 15 miles from UPMC Northwest, Sugar Creek Station Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Complex is a 160-bed rehabilitation and respite care facility. The rehabilitation unit includes expanded physical, occupational, and speech therapy facilities, plus a rehabilitative apartment where short-term residents can sharpen their daily living skills (such as cooking, dining, and bathing) in preparation for going home.

Sugar Creek Station also offers a pet therapy program and includes a specialized Alzheimer's disease/dementia unit. The Jessie Lamberton Peters Memorial Courtyard provides a comfortable, therapeutic setting for residents to enjoy alone or with their families for most of the year.

Scheduling Follow-Up Appointments

After you leave the hospital, your doctor may want you to have additional tests or exams as part of your ongoing medical care.

UPMC Northwest offers convenient options to schedule many of these needs.

Just call Central Scheduling at 412-664-2273 to make appointments for:

  • Laboratory tests
  • Medical imaging (x-rays, CT scans, MRIs)
  • EKGs
  • Non-invasive cardiology (stress tests, echocardiology)
  • Pre-op testing

Billing Information

Your hospital bill will include charges for your room and all services that your doctor ordered.

These services may include:

  • Tests and procedures
  • Medicines
  • Therapy
  • Surgery

UPMC Northwest will send your bill directly to your insurance company or the state or federal agency that covers the cost of your hospital stay.

We ask that you assign benefits from your insurance company directly to the hospital. The final responsibility for any hospital bills belongs to the patient.

Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County (VNA)

VNA of Venango County home health programs are Medicare-certified, state-licensed, and accredited by the Joint Commission. The VNA provides a variety of services including:

  • Skilled nursing
  • Home health aides
  • Hospice
  • Palliative care and coordination
  • IV therapy
  • Mental health nursing
  • Wound and ostomy care
  • Maternal/infant nursing
  • Physical/occupational/speech therapy
  • Social services
  • Telehealth monitoring

  • Children's bereavement camp

In addition, VNA Private Duty provides a variety of services for area residents, including home attendants, live-in companions, and housekeeping services.
