About the Center

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital opened The Children’s Center of Pittsburgh in January 1984 in partnership with the Carriage House Children's Center. We share the same mission and goals as the Carriage House. We are accredited by the NAEYC (PDF).

To enrich the lives of children and their families by providing model childcare and teaching through flexible, child-centered programs.

A Focus on Building Your Child's Skills

Our programs offer hands-on experiences that your child or our teachers introduce.

We assess each child's development. This helps us plan activities and set goals based on your child's age.

The center provides a balance of:

  • Quiet and active times.
  • Outdoor time.
  • Snacks and meals.
  • Other exciting ventures.

Our focus is on your child's interests and skill building. The center is rich with a variety of materials.
