Rapid Response Stroke Team
In Blair County, EMS (emergency medical service) workers are a key part of our team. They're ready to respond to a stroke 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Our EMS rapid response stroke team members at UPMC Altoona:
- Treat strokes with the same urgency as heart attacks.
- Prioritize 911 calls for stroke victims.
- Have special training to detect stroke symptoms.
- Call ahead to let us know a possible stroke victim is on the way.
