The Pittsburgh Poison Center (PPC) provides professional consultation and services to the business and industry community for a fee. The PPC is accredited as a regional poison information center by The American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC). The Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by professional registered nurses, pharmacists, and licensed specialists in poison information. The staff provides comprehensive toxicology information and treatment recommendations to both the lay public and medical professionals. This includes emergency medical information as well as consultation on non-emergent toxicology problems. All consults are extensively documented and entered into a computerized database which is used to generate data reports. The PPC provides:
