UPMC Sports Medicine offers services for athletes and active people of all ages and skill levels.

As the Erie region’s most experienced facility for sports care — with more than 30 years of treating orthopaedic injuries — we provide a full spectrum of services to meet all of the community’s sports medicine and physical therapy needs.

UPMC Sports Medicine is located in Bayview Centre at 100 Peach St., overlooking the scenic Lake Erie bayfront and Presque Isle.

We are conveniently located within three miles from I-79 and within seven miles from the Erie International Airport. We are situated one block from UPMC Hamot, and in front of Lakeside Park across from the Bicentennial Tower.

UPMC Sports Medicine offers primary care sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery evaluations, as well as physical therapy appointments. Direct access physical therapy appointments (without a doctor’s referral) are available.

  • Orthopaedic surgeons – Our sports medicine-certified orthopaedic surgeons host diagnostic clinics to evaluate and treat injuries in people of all ages.
  • Primary care sports medicine physicians – Our primary care sports medicine physicians can evaluate your sports injury and provide the best nonoperative care for your specific case.
  • Concussion experts – See a clinical neuropsychologist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of concussion or a physical therapist certified in neurologic and vestibular physical therapy.
  • Licensed physical therapists – Our team uses a patient-centered, hands-on approach to deliver care for injuries ranging from strains and sprains of daily life to complex athletic and postoperative diagnoses.
  • Certified athletic trainersMeet the athletic trainers who support student-athletes in Northwest Pa. and Western New York.

Our facility includes private treatment rooms and a gym equipped with the following:

  • Cybex® line strength and conditioning equipment
  • Biodex® dynamometer
  • Personalized tourniquet system for blood flow restriction therapy

Together, these machines provide valuable information and help us decide when an athlete is ready to return to normal activities.

Our facility also includes an onsite x-ray machine, which is used in the sports medicine clinic to diagnose both minor and serious conditions.
