Research is a core component of UPMC Vision Institute's mission. We have one of the top basic and clinical research programs in the country. As a leader in National Eye Institute funding, UPMC Vision Institute’s research focuses on ocular immunology, infectious disease, molecular genetics and molecular biology of retinal disease, glaucoma, and advanced diagnostic imaging technology development.
As one of the few ophthalmology-only microbiology laboratories in the country, the Campbell Laboratory for Ocular Microbiology works with patients, community-based ophthalmologists, and other UPMC researchers to diagnose eye infections, develop and test new antibiotics, and investigate how eye infections occur and progress.
The Pitt+Me initiative is a program of the University of Pittsburgh's Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) that engages researchers, patients, and volunteers from the greater Pittsburgh community in an effort to advance science and improve health for future generations.
We encourage you to join the more than 100,000 participants in the Pitt+Me Registry who have signed up to receive our newsletter and hear more about research opportunities that may be of interest.
