Suicide Prevention

Suicides have greatly impacted America. In the United States, more than 47,000 people died by suicide in 2017. In York County, we had a total of 86 suicide in 2017. Most suicides are preventable, so knowing the warning signs and risk factors for suicide is one of the most important ways we can educate ourselves and others, so we know when someone might need help.

  Mission: To support those who are affected by suicide, provide education, awareness, and understanding by collaborating with the community to prevent suicide, and reduce the stigma associated with suicide. Vision: To have a Commonwealth where every life is valued, that everyone has the support necessary to get help when needed, and that hope and healing abounds in every person.
• SAVE - Suicide Awareness Voices of Education
  SAVE was one of the nation's first organizations dedicated to the prevention of suicide. Our work is based on the foundation and belief that suicide is preventable and everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide. Through raising public awareness, educating communities, and equipping every person with the right tools, we know we can SAVE lives.
• Suicide Prevention of York
  Mission: Empower communities to provide suicide prevention, intervention & response to suicide attempts & completions, in order to reduce the number of suicide deaths. Our Vision: To reduce the suicide rate, to eliminate the stigma, and to increase survivor (individuals touched by suicide) support.
