Noninvasive Pain Treatments
Whenever possible, noninvasive medical therapies — therapies that do not require surgery — are the preferred first step to manage your pain. We bring together the expertise of pain professionals in many disciplines — from medicine to cancer care, nutrition to physical therapy. Our noninvasive treatment programs and services include:

Invasive Pain Treatments
For some patients, noninvasive pain treatment is not enough to reduce their pain. Surgical therapies can be used either alone or in conjunction with medical therapy. UPMC Pain Management offers the latest invasive treatment methods, including:
- BOTOX® injections
- Coolief Radiofrequency Lesioning/Genicular Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation for Chronic Knee Pain
- Early, aggressive treatment of severe pain states, such as post-herpetic neuritis and complex regional pain syndrome (RSD)
- Epidural injection
