At UPMC Passavant, registered dietitians are available to provide one-on-one nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy to adults with nutrition or nutrition-related health concerns and diabetes.
Nutrition Services
Whether you're coping with a serious medical condition or looking for general nutrition education, our registered dietitians can guide you toward enhanced well-being.
Services are available for many conditions including but not limited to:
- Diabetes- Type 1, Type 2, gestational or pre-diabetes
- High blood pressure and high cholesterol
- Heart disease
- Weight management
- Digestive issues such as celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Food allergies or intolerances
Your Nutrition Counseling Appointment
When you meet with a registered dietitian at UPMC Passavant, you will receive:
- An in-depth nutrition assessment
- Diet analysis
- Nutrition education
You will be asked to provide information about your:
- Eating habits
- Medications and/or supplements
- Current medical conditions
The dietitian will then work with you to develop a plan that addresses your health goals. In most cases, a follow-up appointment is suggested to implement your plan and review your progress.
