Healthy Cooking with the Steelers
In October, a group of Steelers players make a visit to UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital to assist a Magee chef in a cooking class for breast cancer patients, survivors, and their guests.
During class, we make healthy recipes to help attendees sustain the nutrition and healthy lifestyle that is so important for both patients and survivors.
After the cooking lesson, attendees can sample the food the players and chef created. Players will be available for photos and autographs.
“A Crucial Catch – Intercept Cancer” Breast Cancer Awareness Game
Each October, the Pittsburgh Steelers partner with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and Ford to raise awareness for breast cancer as a part of the NFL’s “Crucial Catch – Intercept Cancer” initiative. This game highlights the importance of screenings and early detection in the fight against breast cancer.
Breast cancer survivors arrive at Heinz Field before the game for a survivor tailgate celebration. They are honored during pregame ceremonies and lead the traditional Terrible Towel Twirl.
Fans in attendance receive commemorative pink Terrible Towels courtesy of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and Ford.
