Our Mission Statement

The mission of UPMC Jameson School of Radiography is to provide a comprehensive education in radiography in accordance with the high level of standards from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. The curriculum prepares students to take the national exam provided by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and enter the job market as a radiographer in diagnostic radiography providing healthcare services to this region and our community. Graduates will be clinically competent, able to communicate effectively, and use critical thinking skills.

Program Goals and Student Learning Outcomes

Goal 1: Students will be clinically competent.

Students will produce quality radiographic images.
Students will provide quality patient care.
Students will practice appropriate radiation protection.

Goal 2: Students will communicate effectively.

Students will use all forms of effective communication to include both verbal and nonverbal skills.
Students will practice effective written communication skills.

Goal 3: Students will use critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the classroom and clinical setting.

Students will evaluate radiographic images for quality positioning and employ critical thinking on how to improve images if needed.
Students will adapt positioning for trauma patients
