Visiting Hours at UPMC Hanover

General Visiting Hours

9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A visit from a friend or loved one can really brighten up a patient's day. However, please remember that rest is an important part of recovery. The visiting hours for each unit are appropriate to the needs of its patients and are subject to restriction by the patient's physician. Visitation after 9 p.m. is controlled by the Security Department in communication with the nursing unit. After 9 p.m., all visitors must enter through the Emergency Department.

Visitors who meet criteria to visit overnight must receive approval from the nurse manager, clinical manager, charge nurse or nursing supervisor to remain. Visitors are not permitted to sleep or sit on patient beds. Sleeping is not permitted in waiting rooms.

Children 12 years or older must be accompanied and supervised by an adult other than the patient. Children under 12 years are not recommended for the safety of patients and child. Exceptions can be made by the nursing supervisor, nurse manager or charge nurse. Children cannot visit patients in isolation.

Unit-Specific Guidance

• Adult Inpatient: Limited to 4 visitors at a time during regular visiting hours.
• Maternity: Visitor passes are required at all times. Mother’s key support person or baby’s parent may visit at any time with required identification bracelet.
• ICU: Limited to 2 visitors at a time during regular visiting hours. Please stop at the nurse's desk prior to entering a patient's room.
• Pediatrics: Visitor passes are required. Limited to 3 visitors at a time during regular visiting hours. Parents or legal guardians may visit at any time. Rooming accommodations are available for one parent.
• Emergency Department: No more than two visitors per patient.
• Infusion Center: Visitors must be age 18 or older. Limit to 1 visitor.
• Hospice Patients: 24-hour visitation allowed. Please speak with the nurse manager, clinical manager, charge nurse or nursing supervisor.
