Endoscopy is a broad term to describe an exam of the body using a lighted, flexible instrument called an endoscope.
Doctors use an endoscope to assess and detect problems most often in:
- The esophagus (swallowing tube)
- The stomach
- Parts of the colon

Outpatient services and procedures we offer include:
- Colonoscopy
- Esophageal Manometry/24-hour pH monitoring
- Panendoscopy EGD
- Feeding tube insertion
- Sigmoidoscopy
Our team will explain what you need to do to get ready for your procedure.
What to Expect at Your Endoscopy Appointment
We ask most people to arrive an hour and a half before the scheduled procedure time. You should expect to spend about 3 hours at the Endoscopy Suite. The actual procedure takes between 15 and 45 minutes based on the type of test. Please bring:
- A current list of any medications you take.
- A friend or family member who can drive you home. They can wait for you in your own patient room.
Before you go home, we'll give you an instruction sheet from your doctor with info an:
- Medication
- Diet
- Special guidelines and issues to watch for
