Educational Facilities at the UPMC Jameson School of Nursing

School of Nursing Facilities


The educational facilities are located within the School of Nursing. Pleasant classrooms are available with adequate lighting and ventilation. Various types of audiovisual equipment are readily available. Conference rooms are provided for small group meetings. Administrative/faculty offices are locating in the UPMC Jameson School of Nursing Building. 

School facilities are accessible beginning at 7:00 a.m. Monday-Friday. Hours vary depending upon activities being held at the school. A security system limits visitor accessibility. School facilities are closed on weekends and holidays. 

UPMC Jameson School of Nursing provides clinical experiences in the following areas:

  • Medical-surgical 
  • Maternity
  • Pediatrics
  • Critical care
  • Ambulatory care
  • Surgery
  • Behavioral health

Additional community facilities are used to enrich the program. The majority of clinical experiences are within Lawrence County. Transportation to and from all clinical experiences is the responsibility of the student

The hospital and educational facilities are accessible to disabled persons. If a student requires special facilities and services, this is considered on an individual basis. 

Library access at UPMC Jameson School of Nursing

UPMC Jameson students have access to the University of Pittsburgh's Health Sciences and Library System (HSLS). 

Personal Computers

Students are required to own a personal computer. The student may prefer a mobile computer such as a laptop or tablet. Students are given email accounts and are expected to check emails at least once a day. School announcements are sent via email. Each nursing course also utilized CANVAS, a course management system. All testing is conducted in electronic format.

Arts and Simulation Labs

One, four-bed Nursing lab equipped with variety of equipment. Experiences in the skills labs is a component of all nursing courses and assist students in gaining the knowledge and competency needed for the delivery of client care.

School Affiliations

The clinical facilities of UPMC Jameson are utilized for much of clinical experience. Experiences are provided in various areas throughout UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon campuses. Some local, off-campus experiences are used for pediatric and community courses. Students are responsible for transportation to the off-campus experiences . 

Guidance and Counseling 

Students who experience a personal problem, such as depression, family issues, emotional difficulties, stress, academic difficulty, or grief may confidentially access the Student Counseling Program through LifeSolutions. This program entitles the student to a personal problem assessment interview, counseling, referral to the most appropriate professional, and follow-up services to ensure that the student's needs are met. All calls are private and are kept completely confidential. LifeSolutions may be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1-800-647-3327. 

Academic Support

Each student is assigned a faculty advisor as well as a senior student advisor. Students are encouraged to reach out to advisors for academic support.


As part of the Pre-Admission Orientation Day Program, students must attend the Fire Safety/Crime Prevention Program presented by the UPMC Jameson Security Department.

In compliance with Title II of Public Law 101-542, The Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, the Jameson School of Nursing maintains statistics related to crimes and provides an annual security report. These statistics reflect activities occurring throughout the entire UPMC Jameson campus and surrounding areas and parking lots, which also include the Jameson Hospital School of Nursing.
