Many people find comfort in their spiritual or religious beliefs and practices following a breast cancer diagnosis. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center understands this, and can connect you with our in-house Chaplain at your request. Our Chaplain will provide you with non-denominational spiritual support that addresses your emotional and spiritual needs.
Specifically, our chaplain can help you with:
- Grief, anxiety, depression, loneliness or personal issues
- Ethical or moral dilemmas
- Crisis situations
- Cultural needs
These services are provided in a professional, confidential, non-judgmental and spiritually supportive manner.
Spiritual Care Plan
When requested, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s chaplain can serve as part of your care planning team. This helps to ensure that your spiritual needs are taken into consideration throughout your cancer journey.
Specific spiritual services that may be appropriate to your care plan include:
- Emotional support
- Listening
- Grief support
- Prayer
- Scripture
- Religious resources for non-Christian traditions
Special Religious/Spiritual Services
You or your legal guardian can request for specific religious or spiritual services. Our chaplain honors your request when able. Please feel free to speak with our chaplain if there is anything specific to your tradition that would promote healing.
UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s chaplain is available on-call to respond to patient, family and staff emergency needs during regular (weekday) business hours.
