The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and our partner organizations provide quality care by offering unique areas of service and expertise.

  • UPMC offers the largest rehabilitation network in western Pennsylvania. Our 90+ inpatient, outpatient, and transitional rehabilitation locations mean that we're here to meet your needs at each phase of your recovery – offering physician services, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, specialized rehabilitation, and more.

  • Center for Assistive Technology

    A joint program of UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh, the Center for Assistive Technology (CAT) provides products, services, and new innovations in the assistive technology field.

    Types of products and services the CAT provides includes comfort, communication, and mobility services, such as adaptive driving training and specialized computer software.

    The CAT team members work directly with clients and their families, providing the latest in assistive technology that best fits a person’s lifestyle.

    The UPMC Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation partners with local institutions such as the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. Through cooperative efforts, the partnership provides leading-edge research and resources that make UPMC one of the most progressive organizations in the country.

    The Department of PM&R and the University of Pittsburgh also collaborate to offer both fellowship and residency programs in rehabilitation medicine.
