The UPMC Palliative and Supportive Institute

Our Mission

The UPMC Palliative and Supportive Institute (PSI) is dedicated to providing whole-person patient-centered care for patients with serious life-limiting illness. Our teams manage and treat symptoms, facilitate complex medical decision making, and provide psychosocial support to help patients and their loved ones achieve the best possible quality of life throughout their illness.

We focus on supporting patients at any age and stage of serious illness and their loved ones while continuing to pursue disease focused therapies. Our team at the UPMC Palliative and Supportive Institute work collaboratively with other health care professionals throughout UPMC to provide the support and services that reduce the stress and suffering that can accompany serious illness.

Patients have a vision and hopes for their future despite serious illness. The Palliative and Supportive Institute is here to ensure that patients, their loved ones, and caregivers can journey through serious illness with the support they need to live their best lives.
