At UPMC, diversity is how we achieve our mission and grow our business.
UPMC respects that talent and skill are not limited but enhanced by the diversity and cultural expertise individuals bring to the workplace.
Having a diverse employee and contractor presence at all levels of the organization provides a wealth of benefits.
It ensures we have the knowledge, critical thinking, agility, and innovation required of a leading and forward-thinking integrated health care system and enterprise — and that we are able to provide informed care for people of all backgrounds, thanks to contributions from stakeholders across a diverse spectrum.
That commitment extends to the construction of the UPMC Presbyterian tower.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council (DEIC) is a group of project stakeholders, comprised of personnel from all firms engaged in the effort around the UPMC Presbyterian tower construction project.
The group will consult, deliberate and make ongoing recommendations for increasing our effectiveness in all aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion.
The DEIC is responsible for:
- Working to encourage and support diverse recruiting and hiring
- Outreach, engaging and supporting minority-owned businesses
- Developing/facilitating training for firms/employees to advance their knowledge and understanding of the industry
- Developing and sharing strategies for building a welcoming and safe environment
- Engaging with historically under-served communities
