As part of the Graduate Medical Education program at UPMC, residents and fellows receive stipends and a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Three weeks (15 business days) paid vacation and 5 days paid time off
  • Up to one week (5 business days) paid educational leave

  • Reimbursement for Step 3 examination (first attempt, during first year)
  • PGY-2 residents are supported to attend the national American College of Physicians (ACP) meeting or the Society of Hospital Medicine meeting during their second year of residency within their educational stipend.
  • PGY-3 residents are supported for a board review meeting within their educational stipend.
  • Reimbursement for regional and national meetings if selected for poster or oral presentations according to policy
