Scrotal Ultrasound

UPMC Content 3

Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses sound waves to examine organs or tissue inside the body.

Scrotal ultrasound imaging is a painless, noninvasive technique for evaluating testicular disorders.

It allows physicians to:

  • Diagnose a cyst or tumor in the scrotum
  • Determine reasons for testicular pain
  • Evaluate the cause of infertility
  • Discover location of an absent or undescended testicle

Following a scrotal ultrasound, a Magee radiologist — specially trained in reading ultrasound — will interpret the results and share them with your physician.

The imaging experts at Magee will partner with you each step of the way to diagnose your symptoms. We perform all our ultrasound procedures in comfortable, clean exam rooms.
