We have combined our three most attended classes to create an intensive baby bundle.
This class is taught by a certified childbirth educator who is also an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. Topics may be covered to a lesser extent than the stand-alone classes due to the shortened class time.
Discussion, demonstration, and class participation are used to teach basic information about labor, birth, postpartum care, benefits of breastfeeding, anatomy and physiology of the breast, how to initiate a milk supply, baby's bath, diapering, and baby safety topics.
Baby Care Basics is recommended for expectant parents in the second trimester but may be taken any time before birth. Parents will learn how to care for a newborn and navigate early parenting. Discussion, demonstration, and class participation are used to teach basic information about baby’s bath, cord care, diapering, safety, and feeding. Other topics include the importance of skin-to-skin and rooming-in, normal newborn behaviors, symptoms of illness, and how to stimulate learning. CPR will not be covered in this class.

This virtual tour provides the expectant mother and father/support person an opportunity to visit Labor and Delivery, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Maternity Center. This will allow you to become familiar with UPMC Lititz.
This free class is taught by an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), focuses on the joys and common concerns of breastfeeding. Discussion includes the benefits of breastfeeding for mothers and babies, the importance of skin-to-skin and rooming-in, identifying baby’s feeding cues, maintaining a milk supply and other practical information. Additional topics include combining breastfeeding and working, expression and storage of breast milk, and use of breast pumps. Expectant partners are encouraged to attend.

Our breastfeeding support group is designed to continue to help mothers in our communities after the birth of their baby. We offer a monthly one hour in-person opportunity for mothers to come together and communicate what is working and what is not so other mothers can learn. Through these support groups, mothers leave with a better understanding of breastfeeding as the mother-baby dyad continue to develop together.
Childbirth Education is Offered Both virtually and in-person. Lititz offers both a Saturday and 4 week, weeknight in-person Childbirth Preparation Class as well as virtual options.
Through these classes, parents will learn the signs of labor and basic comfort measures and breathing, as well as medical options. Moms-to-be and their support persons rehearse for labor to help ease anxiety surrounding the birthing experience. This comprehensive course also addresses newborn appearance and postpartum changes and emotions. All instructors are nationally certified childbirth educators .Expectant parents will have an opportunity to receive answers to their questions.

Preparation makes all the difference in the world when it comes to safety and harmony between a new baby and family dog. This 2 hour Dogs and Storks TM program provides consistent and current information, offering solutions and addressing common challenges that expectant or new parents may experience. Topics covered include your pregnancy and your dog, concerns about jealousy and acceptance of the baby, setting up your home environment for safety, introducing your dog to your baby, the subtle body language of dogs, and fun ways to include your dog in daily activities from the start.

Dogs & Toddlers™ is the ideal program for families with dogs and babies who are soon to be crawling or walking. Often the first 3 months have gone smoothly, and many families are caught off guard when their dog begins to show discomfort with the new developmental changes of their mobile baby.
This program offers insight and proactive options for some of the common challenges families with dogs experience as baby becomes mobile.
Early Pregnancy Class is a free one night class designed to help expectant parents prepare for a healthy well informed pregnancy. Class focuses on common changes, wellness, the importance of prenatal care, how to navigate maternity services at UPMC in central Pennsylvania and so much more! Expectant parent and support person encouraged to attend. Class is taught by an experienced member of the UPMC in Central Pa. Parent/Child Education team.

The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

This single evening virtual class focuses on the experience of the grandparent. New trends in medical practices and current recommendations for infant care and safety will be discussed. Suggestions on how grandparents can support the new family and play a valuable role in the lives of their grandchildren will be shared.

This 3 hour one on one class gives families an opportunity to customize their childbirth instruction experience. The time, place and content is determined in coordination with a certified childbirth educator to meet the needs of an individual family. Topics could include, pregnancy, labor, comfort techniques and breathing, medical interventions and pain management, cesarean birth, newborn appearance/care and postpartum recovery. Many women who have had cesareans can go on to have a vaginal birth. This class is an opportunity to gather information and gain support to give birth vaginally after a previous cesarean birth. This two-hour program is recommended during pregnancy when thinking about vaginal birth after cesarean.

This in-person 2 1/2 hour class was developed exclusively for families expecting multiples. Class covers topics from the anatomy of twin and higher order multiple pregnancies, to the management of pregnancy, labor and birth, and early parenting. All classes are taught by a nationally certified childbirth educator. Class numbers will be limited to 4 families for a personalized class experience.
