Stroke patients need immediate intervention. UPMC Horizon’s emergency departments, located at the Shenango Valley and Greenville campuses, have the capability to diagnose and treat patients suffering from strokes. UPMC Horizon received the Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Award from the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Stroke Association for providing consistent, high-quality stroke care.
Telemedicine services provide an immediate connection to experts at the UPMC Stroke Institute, and, if a higher level of care is needed, patients may be transferred to a tertiary care facility, such as UPMC Hamot or UPMC Presbyterian.
