As a not-for-profit system with deep roots in central Pennsylvania, UPMC in central Pa. has conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) for each of its hospitals in compliance with IRS 501(r) guidelines.
Each CHNA incorporates input from local community stakeholders and public health experts, and identifies actions and implementation plans to improve community health. In putting together the report, we listened to thousands of area residents and dozens of community organizations throughout central Pennsylvania to identify their community’s most pressing health needs.
Our hospitals are making measurable progress on each of their health initiatives, demonstrating their continued commitment to improving community health. We are proud to provide services that directly support the communities we serve, and to collaborate with area businesses and organizations to increase awareness on all aspects of health, including our priorities outlined in each of the locally focused Community Health Needs Assessment plans.
Through programs such as school health screenings, insurance enrollment guidance, home-visiting programs, community paramedicine, “Eat Smart, Play Smart” program, Energy Pack program, and community education and screenings, UPMC in central Pa. and its staff are working in our communities every day to improve the health and wellness of our region.
