Naoki Yoshimura, MD, PhD is Professor of Urology and Pharmacology & Cell Biology, and Director of Neuro-urological Research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical and doctoral degrees from Kyoto University, Japan and completed a residency in urological surgery in Kyoto. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Yoshimura's clinical and basic research interests focus on neural pathways that control the lower urinary tract, and on lower urinary tract dysfunction caused by various pathological conditions such as spinal cord injury, interstitial cystitis, diabetes mellitus, and Parkinson's disease.
