I Look Like a Cardiologist

As the leading cause of death in the United States, heart disease impacts people from every gender, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic class so  the cardiologists that diagnose, treat and manage patients with heart disease should be as diverse as the patients themselves.  Unfortunately, women and people of color remain significantly underrepresented in the field of cardiology.

Experts from the UPMC I Look Like a Cardiologist Program engage with young adults from diverse backgrounds to:

  • Facilitate conversation about becoming a cardiologist
  • Provide mentorship and career advice
  • Answer questions about the path to medical school
  • Discuss the various ways cardiac issues affect our community

The UPMC I Look Like a Cardiologist Program is now accepting applications.

Students who participate in the UPMC I Look Like a Cardiologists Program will have access to:

  • In-person and virtual events
  • Panel discussions with cardiologists from UPMC
  • Conversations with other students with similar career goals
