Weight loss surgery and non-surgical weight loss treatment requires serious consideration and a long-term commitment to a major change in lifestyle. Patients should realize that they — and their family and friends — must be prepared to adjust to a substantial reduction in their weight as well as drastic changes in their lifestyle.
This is where the bariatric support groups and services at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital provide results.
Our surgeons treat bariatric patients by using the combined expertise of many health care professionals. They work closely with registered dietitians and psychologists to meet your individual needs.
We’ll help guide you through the steps of fulfilling initial insurance and medical requirements and provide hands-on, compassionate care throughout your treatment. We will also help to transition your care to other areas after surgery, which may include plastic surgery through the UPMC Life After Weight Loss Program.
Bariatric support groups are open to all patients considering or have had a bariatric surgical procedure. Family members and friends are welcome.
Additional weight management (non-surgical) support resources include:
- One-on-one meetings to discuss non-surgical options
- Lifestyle support services with our dietitians
