WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Sleep Center at UPMC Williamsport Divine Providence Campus has earned its fourth consecutive reaccreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), securing full accreditation through January of 2030. This recognition underscores the facility’s commitment to delivering high-quality sleep care to the community.

“Sleep is fundamental to overall health, and effectively treating sleep disorders can be life changing. These conditions are more common than many realize and can lead to serious medical issues and a diminished quality of life,” said Paula Holmes, director, UPMC Ambulatory Services in North Central Pa. “The reaccreditation from AASM reaffirms the excellent standard of care that UPMC provides to every patient at the Sleep Center.”

Achieving and maintaining accreditation requires a commitment to excellence in sleep medicine and a dedication to elevated patient care. AASM accreditation for five years signifies that the UPMC Sleep Medicine Center in Williamsport has met the organization's rigorous quality standards, which cover personnel qualifications, facility and equipment standards, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care, and quality assurance. Additionally, the facility’s goals must clearly demonstrate a positive impact on the quality of medical care in the communities it serves.

AASM began accrediting sleep disorder centers in 1977. Today, there are more than 2,600 AASM-accredited sleep centers across the country, and UPMC Sleep Medicine in Williamsport is proud to be among them.
