NEWPORT, Pa. – Residents of Perry, Juniata and Mifflin counties will no longer need to travel far for expert lung care thanks to a new UPMC Lung and Pulmonary Clinic opening in Newport on Nov. 4.
People suffering from conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic cough, and other types of lung disease will now be able to get the care they need closer to where they live.
“UPMC is committed to making specialty care accessible to our entire community,” said Erik Toth, vice president, thoracic and pulmonary services, UPMC in Central Pa. “By bringing expert lung care to Perry County and surrounding areas, we’re fulfilling a promise to bring life-changing medicine to the most rural communities that we serve.”
Patients will be able to see Santhosh John, M.D., or Taj Rahman, M.D., for lung care at the UPMC Medical Professional Outpatient Center, located at 300 Bretz Court in Newport, twice a month on Mondays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
