HARRISBURG, Pa.— UPMC Transplant Services is hosting an information session on Saturday, Nov 4, 2023, at the Hershey Lodge, 325 University Dr. Hershey, Pa. from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free in person event will provide information for patients and their families to navigate through the transplant process, leverage UPMC resources sooner and make the process for the patient and their family much smoother.
During this event, UPMC liver and kidney transplant experts, including Swaytha Ganesh, MD, medical director of the UPMC Living Donor Program; and Manish Gupta, MD, associate surgical director, UPMC Harrisburg Kidney Transplant Services, will provide information about:
- The benefits of living donation
- The donor evaluation process
- Support resources and services offered by UPMC to aid in the search for a living donor, including the UPMC Living Donor Champion Program
Liver and kidney transplant are life-saving treatment options for end-stage liver and kidney disease. Transplant patients, John Bender and Mandi Smith will be sharing their journey with participants at the event. The UPMC experts will be available for one-on-one conversations following the program.
Continental breakfast and light refreshments will be available from 8:30 to 9 a.m., and boxed lunches will be provided following the presentations.
