UPMC Recognized as Central Penn Business Journal Announces 2022 Health Care Heroes

HARRISBURG, Pa.Central Penn Business Journal has selected the ICU lead team and two employees from UPMC in Central Pa. as 2022 Health Care Heroes recipients.

Health Care Heroes recognize individuals and organizations who have had a positive impact on the quality of health care in Central Pennsylvania. The honorees were selected by Central Penn Business Journal editors.

"Everyone at UPMC has worked very hard to care for our community especially over the past two years during the pandemic. We are humbled by this gesture by the Central Penn Business Journal and will continue to bring world-class care, closer to home to our community here at Central Pa.," said Dr. Renu Joshi, vice president, UPMC Chronic Disease and Population Health Management. Health Care Heroes are presented in the following categories: Advancements in Innovation and Health Care, Allied Health Hero, Community Outreach, COVID-19 Hero, Lifetime Achievement, Mental Health Hero, Nurse of the Year, Physician Assistant of the Year and Senior Care Hero.

"This year's Health Care Heroes are innovators, care givers, listeners, administrators, healers and individuals often described as miracle workers. They have worked tirelessly throughout their careers but with even more urgency and passion over the past two years during the pandemic," said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, senior group publisher of the Central Penn Business Journal. "Their accomplishments have made the community a better place, and we at the Central Penn Business Journal are pleased to honor them."

To be eligible, honorees must live in or work in Central Pennsylvania.
