Dr. Saba earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He then completed his internal medicine residency, cardiology fellowship, and advanced electrophysiology fellowship at Tuft University/New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Saba was recruited to UPMC as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2000. In 2005, Dr. Saba was appointed Chief of the Cardiac Electrophysiology section within the Division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine, and Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute. He was promoted to Associate Professor of Medicine and of Clinical and Translational Science in 2009, and then promoted to Professor of Medicine and with tenure in 2014.
In 2019, Dr. Saba succeeded Dr. Joon Sup Lee as Chief, Division of Cardiology, within the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His clinical interests include management of atrial fibrillation, management of patients at high risk of sudden cardiac death, and the use of pacing therapy for heart failure.
Dr. Saba published more than 270 peer-reviewed manuscripts, has received previous funding for his research by the National Institute of Health, American Heart Association, and the American College of Cardiology.
