UPMC Western Maryland relies on volunteers as a vital part of the ongoing care we provide. There are many opportunities to get involved at one of our locations and we have something for almost everyone.

Volunteering is mutually beneficial for the health system, the volunteer, and the community.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to be of service to your community and make new friends.

UPMC Western Maryland offers a wide variety of rewarding volunteer opportunities for people ages 15 and older.

Hospital volunteers (teens and adults)

  • Gift shop.
  • Greeter.
  • Hospice.
  • Information desk.
  • Mail room.
  • Patient Advocate.
  • Recreation assistant.
  • Office assistant (various departments).
  • Waiting room.
  • Wellness ambassadors.

Volunteer Application

If you’d like to become a volunteer at UPMC Western Maryland, please complete the application by clicking on the appropriate link below. Teens must 15 to 17. Adults must be 18+.

Health information

You will need to provide documentation that you’ve received the current season’s flu shot and Tdap vaccine if you’ll be working with children or infants. Employee Health will order a tuberculosis (TB) blood test. Please call Employee Health at 240-964-8210 to begin this process.

Orientation

New volunteer orientation is provided via this website to allow easy access to the information you’ll be required to know for placement. This orientation must be completed prior to the first day of your placement.
