Nursing support team members are the “front line” staff and work closely with patients, family, and other staff to provide safe care during their hospital stay. They build positive relationships with the patients and families, which can be key to a successful recovery.
Just as the daisy can’t survive without the bee, nurses cannot survive without the support and outstanding teamwork from other colleagues.
Each month patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, and employees are encouraged to nominate a deserving caregiver (other than a nurse) who supports the nursing staff and exemplifies the following characteristics:
INTEGRITY: Maintains the trust and confidence of all with whom he/she engages
COMMITMENT: Serves patients and their families by honoring UPMC in central Pa.'s mission
ADVOCACY: Truly focuses on serving the patient
RESPECT: Provides dignity and respect to everyone he/she serves and encounters
EXCELLENCE: Strives for the highest quality and continuous improvement
