UPMC's goal — to deliver the right care, in the right way, at the right time to every patient — is a powerful promise. It requires the expertise, commitment, coordination, and innovative ideas of many to achieve. Our mission is to always provide you with a consistently reliable, high quality, and safe patient experience.
How We Measure Quality Health and Safety
UPMC uses the following services to measure quality and safety within our hospitals:
- Health accreditations. Some of our accreditations include National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) and American College of Radiology (ACR Certification).
- Quality reporting and initiatives. At UPMC, we gather and report data for the public. This helps us to continuously improve our patients' experiences.
- Safety and health policies. We want to provide a safe and healthy environment for our patients and visitors, which is why we prohibit tobacco and latex on our campuses.
- Patient satisfaction. We are committed to making sure our patients are satisfied with our medical care, which is why we mail out surveys and make phone calls to patients shortly after their discharge.
