Alan is a lifelong learner who has never stopped trying to be the best care worker he can be. He has worked as a volunteer firefighter in his hometown since he was a teen, following in his father’s footsteps.
For more than 30 years, Alan has held many roles in serving others. He has experience as a staff paramedic, medical-surgical nurse, emergency and intensive care nurse, prehospital nurse, and flight nurse. He also served eight years in the Army as a combat medical specialist.
“I wanted to be a role model for my kids and show them that hard work and education pays off,” he says.
Alan continues to learn and grow, and he says he’s found a home at UPMC Passavant-Cranberry. His years of expertise have not dulled his emotions when caring for patients. The gratitude of one patient can still fill his heart.
At UPMC, Life Changing Medicine is about devotion to others.
