Surgery for gynecologic cancer is performed to determine the stage of cancer and as a treatment for your cancer. The oncologists at the Women's Cancer Program use the most advanced technology available to perform this surgery with exacting precision. Our skilled surgeons regularly perform:

• Laparoscopy. A procedure performed through small incisions in the abdomen, making more extensive surgeries unnecessary.
• Robot-assisted hysterectomy. A robot-assisted radical hysterectomy offers patients better outcomes, shorter hospital stays, faster recoveries, and enhanced safety.
• Laparoscopically Vaginal Hysterectomy. A laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) is a surgical procedure to remove the uterus and cervix and sometimes the ovaries and fallopian tubes. During a LAVH, some of the surgical removal is done through the vagina and the rest is done through a few small surgical cuts (incisions) in the abdomen. Generally, recovery time is faster and there are fewer complications after laparoscopic procedures than after open incisional procedures.
• Hysteroscopy. Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used for looking inside the womb (uterus). A hysteroscope is a thin, lighted telescope-like device that is placed into the uterus through the vagina and cervix. It used to look for tumors or other cancers.
• Vaginal Hysterectomy. Entirely done via the vaginal for less complex cases.
